The way of the cowboy is nearly at an end and bandits lives are getting shorter. Pike (William Holden) leads his Wild Bunch for one last robbery before heading to Mexico to strike a deal for guns with General Mapache all the while pursued by former gang member Thornton (Robert Ryan). The deal soon turns sour and the story ends with one of the bloodiest shootouts imaginable.
