When Oliver Lindenbrook (James mason) discovers a secret message in a rock he believes it will lead him to the centre of the Earth. Travelling with him are Alec McEwan (Pat Boone), Carla Goetaborg (Arlene Dahl), Hans Belker (Peter Ronson) and Gertrude the Duck! The journey is dangerous enough so the presence of the sinister Count Saknussem (Thayer David) makes it all the more perilous.
