Jack (Jeff Bridges) stows away on a ship heading for a secret island where Fred Wilson (Charles Grodin) hopes to find oil. On the way they rescue Dwan (Jessica Lange) from a wreck but she is kidnapped by a tribe who "marry" her to Kong, a 50 feet tall ape! Kong is infatuated with Dwan and Jack sets of to rescue her when he takes her into his jungle. Wilson wants to capture the beast and display him in New York. He succeeds but Kong breaks free and all roads lead to The World Trade Centre where someone will die.
