Devout Christian Sgt Howie (Edward Woodward) heads to Summerisle island to investigate the disappearance of a young girl but no-one seems to know who she is and even her own mother is not missing her. The islanders are very elusive and Howie starts to think that they are all mad. Then he meets Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee) and deems him to be a pagan. What Howie does not know is that he has been lured to the island and will become part of one of the island's rituals! Also stars Britt Ekland and Ingrid Pitt.
